IMPORTANT UPDATE – BCU Annual General Meeting


Dear members,

BCU had an exciting and successful 2019 year!  As soon as it will be permissible, BCU will invite all members to attend a social event to celebrate BCU’s successful 2019 year together.

However, this is an unprecedented moment in time as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rapidly evolve and impact us all.  BCU Financial Group is monitoring the COVID-19 developments closely.

Our primary focus has been on the safety and well-being of our employees and our members.  We are implementing best practices according to the guidance which is being provided by health officials.

We intend to hold our BCU Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 22nd, 2020 as originally planned; however, the AGM will be held as a virtual BUSINESS MEETING ONLY.   

The Credit Union will hold a small meeting with the Directors on our BCU Board and officers which are presenting reports, as allowed by Public Health officials, to meet the requirement of holding a physical meeting which will be broadcast as a teleconference for our members.  We believe that this is an acceptable way of meeting the requirements of the Credit Union Act and Regulations and the Credit Union’s by-laws, while respecting ongoing public health advice regarding the size of permitted gatherings.  The 2019 Annual Report will be made available to all members prior to the BCU AGM.

Our members are invited to join the BCU AGM business meeting by means of a teleconference.  Details for registration for the AGM teleconference will follow shortly.

Important information From the BCU Nominating Committee that relates directly to the BCU AGM:
There are three (3) directors whose terms of office are expiring at this year’s AGM.  The Nominating Committee of the BCU Board of Directors confirms that there are three (3) eligible candidates who submitted their applications for consideration by the Nominating Committee in accordance with the Credit Union’s By-Laws, by the deadline for nominations which was set for March 16, 2020.  The Nominating Committee also confirms that these candidates fulfill the competencies required by the Board including leadership; regulatory environment; and Board and CEO performance and the qualification of these candidates to stand for election as directors, pursuant to the Credit Union’s by-laws.  As such, these three (3) candidates will be acclaimed to their positions as Directors on BCU’s Board of Directors at the upcoming virtual AGM:

  1. Andrew Tarapacky, 3-year term
  2. Paul Biszko, 3-year term
  3. Oleh Leszczyszyn, 3-year term

Members who wish to submit questions to the BCU Board of Directors and officers regarding the 2019 BCU Annual Report can do so by submitting their questions in writing to info@bcufinancial.com no later than 5:00pm on Tuesday, April 21st, 2020.  The questions will be addressed during the AGM.

If we all do our part, we will conquer COVID-19. We will all soon celebrate BCU’s success together!
