BCU Financial will grant sponsorships and donations to individuals or organizations,events or projects that contribute to and enhance the Ukrainian-Canadian and member community in the geographic areas that BCU serves.

Applications for funding that fall within BCU Financial’s parameters will be considered for, but not guaranteed for funding.

Examples of programs that may qualify for funding include the following:

• Support for Ukraine: Considering the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces and the ongoing war, BCU’s sponsorship and donation efforts are primarily focused towards supporting humanitarian aid to Ukraine during this critical time.
• Events or projects whose focus is the promotion of Ukrainian arts, culture, education, and language.
• Events that support Ukrainian-Canadian charitable organizations.
• Organizations which support education and community awareness.
• Organizations that promote Ukrainian youth leadership training, education and good citizenship

The following donation and sponsorship requests are not eligible for financial support from BCU:

• For-profit video and film productions
• Projects linked to a political party or candidate of a political party or labour organization
• Requests to support operating expenses are generally declined

For contribution requests exceeding $1,000, BCU Financial requests that the applicant also include a detailed budget for the project/event. Requests over $1,000, which do not include a budget will only be considered for a maximum sponsorship of $1,000.

Yes, BCU Financial does accept prize donation requests. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be a not-for-profit or registered charitable organization
• Event or majority of project is based on volunteer work and not personal profits
• Agree to communicate BCU’s branding and messaging in accordance with BCU standards.

Yes, BCU Financial can sponsor recurring events or long-term projects.

BCU Financial will assess that the applicant has been compliant with the BCU Financial Sponsorship Policy requirements, such as:
• Utilizing the official BCU Financial logo on all marketing materials
• Sponsorship recognition prior to, during and after the project/event is completed
• Recognizing BCU Financial’s sponsorship on social media (Facebook & Instagram)
• Providing BCU with photos and/or videos of the project/event

Once a BCU Sponsorship Application has been reviewed and denied, it will not be considered for review again.

Disbursement of sponsorship funds may be discussed with BCU Financial.

To be eligible for the Oksana Prociuk Leadership Scholarship, Wolodymyr Klish Memorial Scholarship, BCU Scholarship, BCU Founders Scholarship, or the BCU High School Scholarship, students must:
• Submit a completed Scholarship Application with all required documents
• Be a BCU Financial member for a minimum of two (2) years
• Meet the specific criteria for the scholarship they are applying for
• Demonstrate how they are reflecting BCU Financials’ values and guiding principles through volunteerism in the Ukrainian Canadian community and supporting Ukrainian traditions, culture, and language.

To be eligible for the BCU Nova Buduchnist Student Bursary, students must:
• Submit a completed BCU Nova Buduchnist Bursary Application with all requirement documents
• Be a BCU Financial member through the Nova Buduchnist Benefit Program
• Provide documentation that indicates financial need
• Demonstrate how they are reflecting BCU Financials’ values and guiding principles through volunteerism in the Ukrainian Canadian community and supporting Ukrainian traditions, culture, and language.

BCU Financial Group Directors, and their immediate family members (spouses, children, siblings, and their respective spouses, regardless of where they live) or persons living in the same households of a BCU Financial Group Director, whether or not related, are not eligible to participate in the BCU Scholarship and Student Bursary Program.

BCU Financial recognizes the importance of education and volunteerism in shaping our youth’s character and empowering them to build a better future. BCU Financial awards scholarships every year to members of our Credit Union who are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate university program or college program and demonstrate both academic achievement and community leadership.

When completing the Scholarship Application Form, students may choose 1 or multiple scholarships to apply for. All scholarship required documentation, which may be different depending on which scholarship is being applied for, must be submitted to be eligible.

Students who receive a Nova Buduchnist Student Bursary or a High School Scholarship are eligible to apply for an Oksana Prociuk Leadership Scholarship, Wolodymyr Klish Memorial Scholarship, BCU Scholarship, BCU Founders Scholarship in the future.

Students who receive an Oksana Prociuk Leadership Scholarship, Wolodymyr Klish Memorial Scholarship, BCU Scholarship or BCU Founders Scholarship are not eligible to apply for or receive an additional scholarship from BCU in the future.
