Niagara Sunflower Festival for Ukraine Relief

As part of BCU Financial Group’s efforts in supporting Ukraine in these challenging times, we are pleased to collaborate with community enthusiasts who step up and raise funds for Ukrainian humanitarian needs. One such event, the 1st Niagara Sunflower Festival for Ukraine Relief, took place in late August 2022 intending to raise awareness and funds for Ukrainian relief efforts. Two local Niagara families, Joe and Mira Hube and Bill and Linda Emslie, teamed up and planted 70,000 sunflowers over 4 acres of Bill’s farm in Grimsby to create a sunny paradise for visitors to enjoy, capture in photos and even take some home.

The event raised over $6,000 in funds, and all the proceeds were donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Aid Fund at BCU Foundation and will be fully directed to support the needs of the Ukrainian people who have suffered the consequences of war. Supporting such initiatives allows us to continue making a substantial impact in our communities. This is made possible by our members’ patronage and we are continuously grateful for their support.
