BCU Supports the 14th Vechornytsi “Lavka” by the League of Ukrainian-Canadian Women, Toronto branch

BCU Financial was proud to support this year’s Vechornytsi organized by the League of Ukrainian Canadian Women (LUCW) Toronto that took place on February 3, 2024, at the Lithuanian Hall in Mississauga.

The evening featured an original play “Lavka” (bench) – an intricate showcase of the connection between generations and historical events that changed each other, using a figure that stood through the centuries and witnessed them all – a simple wooden bench that a man built during the time of kozaky. This bench becomes a silent binding symbol not only between generations but also between us Ukrainians and our Motherland.

BCU Financial is a long-standing sponsor of Vechornytsi which has been running annually for 14 years. Many employees and members of BCU Financial are involved in the preparation for this evening in the capacity of actors, volunteers, cooks, sponsors, and of course, spectators. This year, more than 520 people attended the event. Since 2014, the proceeds from the event have been directed to support Ukrainian defenders through the Friends of Ukraine Defense Forces (FUDF) Fund. The goal this year was to raise $45,000 to provide ongoing aid to Ukraine.
