Our BCU Scholarship Program recognizes the importance of education and volunteerism in the community in shaping our youth’s character and future and offers 4 scholarship types.

The Scholarship Award Ceremony took place on September 15, 2023, at our newly renovated Corporate Office. This event is a testament to our commitment to our youth – our future community leaders.

Congratulations to the following 2023 Scholarship recipients:

BCU High School Scholarship Award of $1000
Taissa Saluchok – University of Windsor, Criminology and Forensic Science
Lina Dankowycz – The University of Guelph, Zoology

BCU Scholarship Awards of $2000
Sonia Krzywucki – York University, Kinesiology and Health Science

Wolodymyr Klish Memorial Scholarship Award of $2500
Yuri Grytsevytch – Schulich School of Business, York University, Master of Finance

New in 2023, the BCU also introduced the Nova Buduchnist Student Bursary designed to financially assist newly arrived students from Ukraine displaced by war who are studying in Canada and demonstrate how they are integrating into the Ukrainian-Canadian community and reflecting BCU Financial’s values and guiding principles through volunteerism.

The recipient of the 2023 Nova Buduchnist Student Bursary of $1000 is:
Sofia Stozhok – University of Toronto, International Foundation Program, Social Science at the Faculty of Arts

During the ceremony, Andrew Tarapacky, Chair of the Board of Directors of BCU Financial, expressed his gratitude to all the scholarship recipients for their active participation in the Ukrainian community and emphasized that today, while the brutal war of Russia against Ukraine continues, it is vital that our youth celebrates their Ukrainian identity and continues to be active in preserving our heritage and culture through their community work.

Our gratitude also goes to the BCU Scholarship Committee and Chair, Nadiya Kuz, whose work and dedication ensured that yet another group of Ukrainian-Canadian students are empowered to continue their studies and become our leaders of tomorrow.
